Top 10 Reasons to Check out Pilgrim UCC

 10.    What if church is like broccoli….?
Like something that you hated as a kid but you love as an adult because you eat it in ways that suits you much better.

9.     No “members only” signs here

All are welcome at our house and all are invited to share in Holy Communion.  In fact, you don’t have to join to become active at Pilgrim.

8.    More flavor – less guilt
We strive to instill FAITH (not fear) in our church community.  All of us need friends and companions (not judges) for the journey.

7.    Variety is the spice of life!

We are an eclectic mix of people from all backgrounds.  Our musical styles, worship expressions and theology reflect that.

6.    No Boxes!

God can blow the lid off any box, unfold it and turn it into a dance floor!  We tend to be “out of the box” people.  Among our many first, the UCC was the first mainline church to take a stand against slavery (1700), the first to ordain an African American person (1785), the first to ordain a woman (1853) and the first to ordain a minister regardless of their orientation (1972).  We warmly welcome and affirm ALL people.

5.    And we say to ourselves….what a wonderful world!

We realize and appreciate that we don’t live in an all-Christian world…rather, a spiritually diverse and beautiful one.

4.    We’re not afraid to get our hands dirty

Our hands and hearts are constantly at work; from Grafton to Afghanistan, Mississippi to Africa – We’re there…building homes, digging wells, providing blankets, donating food, sending medical supplies….

3.    It’s not about rules – it’s about relationships…

Relationships with both God and each other.  Spiritual journeys can be like the exercise equipment we buy and leave under the bed.  Without coaches and workout partners, most of us don’t stick with it.

2.    Never put a period where God has placed a comma.”

Those were the wise words left to George Burns by his beloved partner Gracie Allen.
1.  God is still speaking, come listen with us!
